Results from the Interreg NWE “MegaAWE” project (photo credit Mozaero, Kitepower), including a 150-kW fixed-wing airborne wind energy system (12 m wing span, fully automated, EASA approved), and an airborne wind energy test site in County Mayo, Ireland. The project was initiated by Dr. Michiel Kruijff for Ampyx Power (2021). Delta-Utec supported the grant application for continued flight operations (DEM-AWE), the innovation & scaling roadmap of Kitepower and MegaAWE’s technical deliverables preparation (including preparation for a 1-MW system development program, assessment of system scalability to 10 MW and levelized cost of energy potential).
